Cerritos College to Host Seminar for Machine Tool Technology Students

Verisurf Manager to Highlight Recent Developments in Technology

WHAT: Jim Edwards, Southern California account manager for Verisurf, will provide a three hour seminar on Model-Based Definitions (MBD). Cerritos College students have the opportunity to learn about this new technology, which is poised to eliminate paper drawings in the design and production of automotive aftermarkets parts, replacing them with solid models. Learning how these parts can be analyzed for conformance has become more important as MBD has come into widespread use.

The seminar will cover:
• Advantages of using Coordinate Measuring Machines for inspection
• What are model based embedded tolerances
• Productivity and cost benefits of MBD
• Importance of MBD for global cooperation
Overview of technological solutions available, including laser rackers, portable CMM arms, scanners and photogrammetry
