Commencement Information


The traffic light at Alondra Blvd. and Gridley Road, in front of the stadium, is flashing red due to ongoing construction.  Anticipate extreme congestion on Alondra Blvd. in both directions, as all traffic must stop at the light.  It is highly encouraged that guests enter the College from Studebaker Road or 166th Street, and parking in lot C-10 is also encouraged for easier entrance to, and exit from, the College.


The 2018 Commencement Ceremony: 

When:  Friday, May 18, 2018. The ceremony will begin promptly at 6:00 PM.

Where:  Cerritos College Falcon Stadium loctated at 11110 East Alondra Boulevard Norwalk, California 90650

Cost:  Free for all guests. 

Guests:  You are encouraged to invite your family and friends to the Commencement Ceremony.  The guest entrance gates are located on both the northeast and northwest sides of Falcon Stadium and will open at 4:30 PM.  For information on parking and directions, please see below.

Reminder to all Guests:

  • NO strollers, balloons, noisemakers, or large signs will be admitted into the stadium for the ceremony.
  • All bags will be checked by security at the entrance.
  • Concessions will be available for purchase. 
  • Seat saving will not be permitted in the stands.


Instructions for Graduates Instructions will be explained to all participants in detail on May 18 in the Cerritos College Gymnasium. Please report to the Gymnasium no later than 5:00 PM. (Doors will open at 4:00 PM.) The Commencement Ceremony will last a couple of hours, please plan to stay for the entire event out of respect for your fellow graduates. Official cap and gown are required for participation. Selected adornments, such as honor and organizational cords and stoles and flower leis, may be worn with the cap and gown. Graduates that arrive after 5:00 PM WILL NOT be allowed to participate in the ceremony.

TIP: The streets surrounding the campus will be heavily congested. To avoid traffic and parking lot congestion, we encourage guests to arrive early & park in lot 10, which can be accessed through 166th street.


Graduation Supplies & Gifts Caps, gowns, tassels, and gifts will be on sale in the Bookstore beginning in April.


Regalia Preparation for Graduation Prior to Commencement Day, have your gown pressed (cool iron only).  Cap should be worn straight, pulled down over the forehead.  Caps should be worn at all times during the ceremony, except during the National Anthem (men).  Tassel should be draped over the left front quarter of the cap.  The commencement ceremony takes place on the football field which is covered with artificial grass. We ask that our graduates do not wear tall or spiked heels for  the ceremony.  

We strongly encourage graduates to not bring any personal items to the ceremony. Cerritos College will not be responsible for any personal items.


Commencement Program If you would like your name to appear in the Commencement 2018 Program, please submit your "Request for Associate in Arts Degree/Certificate of Achievement" evaluation form to the Admissions and Records office by their deadline. Students who submit their requests after this date may still participate in Commencement; however, their names will not appear in this program.  Programs are free and a copy will given to each participant and each guest present at the ceremony.


Photographs Photos will be taken of every graduate as they shake hands with the President of the College after receiving their diploma cover.  On Commencement Day, you will be asked to complete the form on the back of your name card, and a free color proof will be mailed to you.  Once you have received your proof in the mail you can contact Grad Images at their customer service line at 800.261.2576. Diploma Covers are free to those graduates participating in the Commencement Ceremony.  You will be notified by mail when your diploma or certificate is available for pickup in the Office of Admissions and Records. Please make sure that your mailing information is correct and up-to-date.

If you do not participate in the Commencement Ceremony, you may purchase a diploma cover at the Cerritos College Follett Bookstore.


Mid-Year Graduates are encouraged to participate in the Commencement Ceremony. 


Summer School Graduates are eligible and encouraged to participate.  The degree will be conferred after completion of all requirements.


Honors Students are indicated by an honors cord which may be obtained in the Bookstore when you purchase your cap and gown.  Only those graduates who have earned an A. A. degree with a grade point average of 3.3 or better are eligible to receive a honors cord.   If you have questions regarding the honors cord and whether or not you are eligible please contact Admissions and Records. A Cerritos College student ID is required to pick up Honors cords.


Disability Accommodations

Wheelchair/Power-Scooter Guests: In addition to general wheelchair seating in the grandstand, wheelchair/power-scooter users and two non-disabled guests may opt to be seated on the track the day of the event. Field level wheelchair/power-scooter seating is available the home side of the stadium only. Upon entering the home side gates, there will be signs and staff to assist guests with field level seating. Seating is on a first-come-first-serve basis. .
