Cerritos Community College is proud to provide our students with two academic support services offered by the English Department. Our goal is to help students with their composition skills, improving their performance in courses at Cerritos that require them to produce written work.

We offer critiques on drafts of written work submitted by students currently enrolled in classes at our college. We are committed to improving what you know about effective writing.  The OWL is not a paper-correction service; students are responsible for the quality of their work. Students should revise their work, making corrections and changes as recommended in order to succeed. Students may even choose to submit revised drafts of the same papers for additional review.

How to Use the OWL
To submit assignments for OWL feedback, send an e-mail with your paper attached to owl@cerritos.edu. Our friendly faculty will return papers submitted Monday through Thursday within 24 hours, while papers submitted after 3:00pm on Thursday will be returned on the following Monday by return e-mail. Responses will be sent as soon as possible, but please allow plenty of time between the submission of your work and the due date of your assignment.

The instructors’ response will include recommendations for improvement, and in some cases they may also suggest additional online or offline writing resources. These may include web sites, handbooks, or other materials designed to give you the information and support you need to succeed as a writer.
