Dr. Bob Hughlett
Trustee Area 7
Dr. Bob Hughlett was elected to the Cerritos College Board of Trustees in November 2005 and was subsequently reelected to serve through November 2014. He represents Trustee Area 7, which includes portions of the cities of La Mirada, Cerritos, Norwalk, Santa Fe Springs, and North Whittier. In the past, he has served as the Board Secretary, Vice President and President with distinction.
Hughlett is a retired administrator from Cerritos College, where he was employed for over 30 years. Prior to serving as Director, Disabled Student Programs and Services, he was a professor in the Disabled Student Program.
His wide-ranging involvement in civic organizations demonstrates a commitment to public and community service. He served as councilmember on the Cerritos City Council for two terms beginning in 1997 and served on the ABC Unified School District Board of Education from 1987 through 1995. His commitment to civic organizations also includes participation on boards for the California Association of Post-Secondary Education and Disability, Community Family Guidance Association, Community Family Guidance Center Foundation, Pathways Volunteer Hospice, Los Cerritos YMCA, and Su Casa Family Support and Crisis Center.
Hughlett holds an Ed.D. in Postsecondary Administration from Nova University, an M.A. in Education (minor in Special Education), from California State University, Los Angeles, and a B.A. in English from Saint Mary's College. He resides in Cerritos with his wife, Marianne, who is also actively involved in the community. He has two children and four grandchildren.
