Media Contact: Kristen Habbestad, Public Affairs; (562) 860-2451, ext. 2287, khabbestad@cerritos.edu

WHAT:  Cerritos College’s Automotive Technology Department will officially receive a donation of two high-performance vehicles from BMW of North America during a photo reception November 1.

The 2003 vehicles, both BMW 325ci models, will be used in the department’s Autobody Collision Repair program.

“European cars bodies and exterior paint coats are crafted very differently than domestic vehicles’,” explained Dr. Randy Peebles, dean of Cerritos College’s Technology Division.

“By having an opportunity to restore these BMWs, our students will gain exposure to European auto body methods—which is invaluable in the field.”

BMW of North America executives will attend the ceremony to officially “hand over the keys” for the donated vehicles. Cerritos College Autobody Collision Repair students will also demonstrate how a car is straightened after sustaining damage in a collision. They will use a new device that elevates the vehicle and restores its frame to the original position.

WHEN:  Monday, November 1 at 11 a.m.

WHERE:  Cerritos College Autobody Collision Repair facility (identified as "AT" on campus map)
11110 Alondra Blvd. – Norwalk, CA 90650-6298

CONTACT: For more information about the photo opportunity or to schedule a tour of the autobody facility, please contact Kristen Habbestad at (562) 860-2451, ext.2278 or khabbestad@cerritos.edu
