WHAT:  Cerritos College’s Adult Education and Diversity Programs and the General Consulate of Mexico in Los Angeles cordially invite you to the inauguration of the "Plaza Comunitaria" program designed to bring literacy opportunities to the Latino community. Financial support for this program is being provided by Citibank and Construmex.

The program offers courses for adults of the Latino community who wish to improve their reading, writing and language skills in Spanish in preparation for learning English. The purpose of “Plaza Comunitaria” is to help participants gain literacy skills so that they can begin and finish their primary or middle school education in Spanish. Credit for completion of the courses will be provided to participants by the National Institute for Adult Education (INEA). Teaching methods in the program are designed to adapt as necessary to the learning styles of the participants.

“Plaza Comunitaria” also provides a bridge for adults who later wish to take bilingual or English-language college courses at Cerritos College, enabling them to gain an excellent education and to prepare for a successful future.
