EDT 50 Preparation for Online Learning
This course teaches students the skills necessary to successfully complete a class on the Internet. Topics include study skills, online student profiles, introduction to the Internet and the World Wide Web, using email and other online services, and basic aspects of word processing. (1 unit)
EDT 51 Email for Educators
This course trains educators and prospective educators who wish to learn about email and how to incorporate email into the academic environment. Participants will learn the fundamentals of email use and management techniques. Emphasis is placed on email within the educational community. Educational topics will include creating lesson plans that utilize email as part of an activity, netiquette, and issues surrounding student safety and security. (1 unit)
EDT 52 Windows for Educators
This course trains educators and prospective educators in the use of the Microsoft Windows operating environment/system. Topics include desktop settings, file and print management, features of the Windows menu system, Windows attributes, and program management. (1 unit)
Recommendation: EDT 50 or EDT 51 or equivalent with a grade of Credit or “C” or higher.
EDT 53 Macintosh for Educators
This course trains educators and prospective educators in the use of Macintosh computers in an academic setting. Topics include desktop settings, file and print management, features of the Macintosh menu bar system, attributes, and program management. (1 unit)
Recommendation: EDT 50 or EDT 51 or equivalent with a grade of Credit or “C” or higher.
EDT 57 Apple/Claris Works for Educators
This course is intended to teach educators the skills and capabilities of integrated software packages such as Claris Works, Apple Works, and Microsoft Works. These are all popular software products used in the K-12 learning environment. Topics include word processing, desktop publishing and presentations, spreadsheets, and databases. Students will produce a variety of documents useful in the K-12 classroom. (1 unit)
EDT 66 PowerPoint for Future Teachers (TeacherTRAC)
This course teaches presentation graphics using Microsoft PowerPoint. Topics covered include creating, managing, and delivering a curriculum-based presentation. Students will produce conceptual and data-intensive presentations, speaker notes, and handouts incorporating text and graphics. (1 unit)
Recommendation: EDT 50 or EDT 51, EDT 52 or EDT 53, and EDT110 or equivalent with grades of Credit or “C” or higher.
EDT 67 Inspiration Presentation
This course is intended to teach educators the basics of Inspiration, an "idea-mapping" and outlining software tool used in education. Students will create presentation diagrams and outlines to build and reinforce ideas. Students will learn to link presentations directly to the World Wide Web. Using the Internet and other resources, students will create lesson plans to incorporate into their curriculum. (1 unit)
EDT 68 Using Kidpix
This course is intended to teach educators how to use and teach Kidpix, a popular software product for the K-6 learning environment. Topics include creating desktop publishing projects, multimedia projects, and animation using Kidpix. Using the Internet and other resources, students will create lesson plans to incorporate into their curriculum. (1 unit)
