Important Points of Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
What is Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)?
SAP is a policy requiring that student's maintain the school's academic standards to continue receiving federal and state student aid funds (excluding the Board of Governors Fee Waiver).
Grade Point Average (GPA) Requirement You must maintain a 2.0 cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA).
Unit Completion Requirement
The chart below will show how many units you are required to complete per semester with a passing grade, based on your enrollment status:

Probation
You will be placed on probation status after an academic year if you have not met the unit completion requirement and/or the 2.0 grade point average requirement. If you are placed on financial aid probation status, you will remain eligible for financial aid. You will receive a letter notifying you of your status and how to avoid termination.
Termination
You will be placed on termination status after a year on probation status, if you still have not met the unit completion requirement and/or the 2.0 grade point average requirement.
If you are placed on termination status, you will no longer be eligible to receive financial aid, with the exception of the Board of Governors Fee Waiver.
Frequency of Review
Your academic progress is reviewed once each academic year. At the end of the Spring semester, both Fall and Spring grades are evaluated.
70 Unit Limit
You can earn a total of 70 units and remain eligible for financial aid.
If your major/program requires more than 70 units, you can receive financial aid if you schedule an appointment with an academic counselor to complete a Lock-In-List Appeal. The appeal will be reviewed by the Financial Aid Advisory Committee (FAAC).
