Carol Sauvion, owner of 28-year-old FREEHAND GALLERY in Los Angeles, which is devoted to selling fine American crafts will give an inspired nuts-and-bolts presentation on the Do's and Don'ts of approaching store and gallery owners.

Costa Mesa Woodworking Show

The Costa Mesa Woodworking Show will open Friday, October 30 and close Sunday, November 1. At the show, you will find a variety of vendors with the latest equipment and tools. Stop in to see what's new and pick-up that tool that been on your wish list.

Looking for work? Cerritos College may have a solution for you!

On October 6, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m., Cerritos College is hosting a job fair. Over 30 employers from a variety of industries are coming to meet you face-to-face. This event is open to the public. Admission and parking are free.

It is recommended that you dress professionally at the fair. Also, bring your resume and be prepared for on-site interviews.

Woodworking Celebration Event

We invite you, your family, and friends to join us for food, fun and good company. We will be announcing graduates of the program and "honoring" selected students with Golden Snowman Awards.

You can get involved with the event by entering your project(s) into the gallery. Cash prizes will be awarded to First Place in eight categories and to the People's Choice project chosen by Gallery visitors. See your instructor or click here for entry forms and further details.

The Woodworking Show

This event offers the perfect shopping opportunity for avid woodworkers. At the show you will find a variety of tools and machinery to enhance your toolbox or personal workshop. In addition to access of fine goods, the show provides mini-seminars where you can learn woodworking techniques from professionals. Topics range from cabinet building to woodturning. 

The college is attending to spread the good word about our program. As always, we are looking for students volunteers to work the booth. Admission is free to all volunteers. Click here to reserve your time slot.

Cerritos Art Sale

Woodworking items will be featured in the annual Cerritos College Student Art Sale, Sunday, December 7th from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. in the Student Center on campus.

Several woodworking and solid surface students, staff and teachers entered their work in last year’s event.  Their displays received glowing reviews, and, to top it off, they made some sales.  This year promises to be even bigger, with wood turning and ceramics demonstrations to go along with the exhibits.

Plan now to join the fun.  Attendees are interested in both stocking stuffers of modest price and more substantial items as holiday gifts.  This is an opportunity to participate in a vibrant and interesting day, display your work, and earn a little extra money on the side.

Entry forms will be available later this month.  The sale is open to Cerritos faculty, staff and students, and features several departments including ceramics, wood, painting, and jewelry.  Help make woodworking a leading example of artistic achievement.

Sawdust Symposium

On Sunday, November 16, from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m., the Cerritos Student Association of Woodworkers will host the annual Sawdust Symposium in Health Sciences 102.  The event is open to everyone interested in taking woodworking classes with Cerritos College. 

At the event, faculty members will discuss and illustrate their Spring 2009 courses and their plans for future classes.  And, we will host a raffle of woodworking equipment and books.

Be there and get the latest word on what’s coming up.  Invite your friends and take the opportunity to show them the facilities.  The event is free, but a suggested donation of $5 gives you entry and one raffle ticket.

Craftsman Weekend

Join Pasadena Heritage at their 17th Annual Craftsman Weekend-a tribute to the American Arts & Crafts Movement and 100th Anniversary of the Greene and Greenes' Gamble House.  Enjoy a host of events ranging from walking and bus tours of historic neighborhoods, a Craftsman House Tour that visits five distinctive Craftsman-era homes, exhibits of contemporary and antique Craftsman furnishings and accessories, plus special evening events in historic sites. Furniture & Decorative Arts Show & Sale during Craftsman Weekend Show

Award winning furniture and cabinetry from Cerritos College's 2007 and 2008 Student Competition will be on display at the Furniture and Decorative Arts Show and Sale during Craftsman Weekend. In addition to the exhibits, you will find antique dealers and contemporary artisans selling an array of antique and revival furnishings and decorative arts. Come to view our display and to find a great buy from the one of the other artisans.

JLC Show at the Long Beach Convention Center

The department will have a booth this year's JLC Show. We are attending to promote the program and to find employers to hire our graduates. If you are working towards entering the construction or cabinetry field, this may be a great show to attend. 

The JLC Live Hall is where construction professional come together to not only learn about the latest building products and techniques, but to see them in action. The Exhibit Hall features live building clinics, decks and rails under construction, a design software workshops as well as manufactures, distributors and suppliers showcasing their cutting-edge products and services.
