WHAT: As part of state-wide initiative to promote international education, Cerritos College is celebrating “International Education Week” November 3-6. Events during the week include presentation on Global Initiatives, workshops on study abroad opportunities and immigration issues, international business panel and International Cultural Night.
The event schedule is as follows:
Monday, November 3
Keynote speaker Dr. Douglas Treadway on Global Initiatives at Cerritos College.
11 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Location: Student Center Stage
Dr. Treadway is President of the Community College Leadership Development Initiatives Foundation and visiting professor at the University of San Diego School of Leadership and Education Sciences. Dr. Treadway will share his global vision on international education and how the Cerritos College campus can cultivate a global perspective.
Tuesday, November 4
Study Abroad Opportunity Seminar
11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Location: Student Center Stage
Discover the importance of study abroad initiatives and how to effectively internationalize the curriculum.
Wednesday, November 5
International Business Panel
11 a.m.
Location: LC 155
“The Importance of Global Initiatives for Business Education at Cerritos College” – the panel features experts of international business.
Moderator: Dr. John Haas
Immigration Workshop
3 p.m. – 5 p.m.
Location: S 201
Nadadur Kumar, an immigration attorney, will explore issues surrounding F-1 visa status, H-1 visa, permanent resident, citizenship application, employment and much more.
Thursday, November 6
International Culture Night
6 p.m. – 9 p.m.
Location: Student Center
Features international cuisine, arts and crafts, and live performances highlighting Aztec, Chinese, Filipino, Korean, Jazz and Polish.
