Photo of Turkey Trot 2007.WHAT:  Combining a wellness event with community goodwill, Cerritos College will host its annual Turkey Trot on Tuesday, November 18.

To enter the 2-mile walk/run, participants must donate at least one canned food item that will be passed on to the Norwalk Community Council's Holiday Food Basket Program.

The Holiday Food Basket Program helps needy families in the Norwalk area.

Each year, the event raises nearly 1,000 cans of food from its 200-plus participants. Many who participate choose to exceed the one-can requirement, while others choose only to donate, but not to participate.

Canned food items can be donated prior to the event at the physical education office, as well.

Race participants also have the opportunity to earn prizes for guessing their completion time most accurately. Watches are not allowed for the event.

The first 200 finishers will receive a commemorative Turkey Trot T-shirt.

Pre-registration for the event is encouraged, but not mandatory.  Registration forms are available in the Cerritos College physical education office.
