Careers in Court Reporting                                                    **VIRTUAL TOUR!!**
Reporters Association of Public Schools  (RAPS)                              Degrees and Certificates

Fall 2012 begins August 20!

New Students: Go to www.cerritos.edu and enroll at the college to get a student no. and be put in the queue to register!  (No cost or obligation to register, but you must have a student no. in order to register - so the sooner you get your number, the sooner you will be able to register.)  You need to select the exact term you plan to register for. Note: Students new to the community or state college system (first-time college students) need to read the Cerritos home page regarding assessment and orientation requirements. *Possible waiver if you just plan to take the vocational courses and not go for AA degree. On application, look for the question about your plans (approximately no. 23) and if you state you plan to get vocational training only at this time (to get job skills), you will be excused from the assessment tests and counseling orientation. You can change that later on once you start in the court reporting program. You may NEED TO CONTACT US IN THE DEPARTMENT to get a waiver form (if you get blocked from registering) so you can state you are only going for the vocational training at this time and therefore do not need to take the assessment tests or complete the counseling orientation.
Online students who need to take assessment courses should contact the assessment department to arrange assessment testing at a local college, Adult School, ROP, etc., or contact us in the department to obtain a waiver form.

If you have been absent for a whole semester or more, you need to re-enroll to get a registration date. New students, plan enough time to see a counselor and take the assessment tests before the term begins! (or see info above about waivers). You do not need to get an AA degree to become a court reporter.

    *Important information.

Orientations are held in the Court Reporting Department, FA 73 (or you'll be directed to a nearby classroom from that point).  Come find out about the Court Reporting Program at Cerritos College and what you need to get started.  Bring your questions!
General Info:  Parking $2 from meters. (The meters only accept quarters or $1. bills.  No higher denomination bills.
(No parking fees on Saturdays only.)  Pull up to meter first.  (Suggestion) Park in C10 lot off of 166th and New Falcon Way.  Click here for a map
From C10 walk north toward campus.   If you are far out in the lot, pass Campus Police and Automotive Technology. Cross at  stop sign that leads to campus access.  Walk past old warehouse on your right (you'll see the child care center ahead and slightly left but you aren't going that far), turn right into FA 60 building (the wing that has rooms that are numbered in the 60's).   Go through FA 60 building - OR- go along walkway just south of FA 60 building with warehouse on your right.   Go through little patio.  Enter FA 70 building.  The Court Reporting Department is on the right-hand side, FA 73.  (Sort of between old warehouse on our south, Student Center on our northeast, Child Development Center on our northwest, and we are in the Fine Arts Building, which is like an "H" and we are in the wing that has the classroom numbers in the 70's.  And the bathroom is in our wing also!)

Please email and RSVP so we can plan to meet with you.  Please leave phone and email contact information.  Orientations last approximately  1 and 1/2  to  2 hours and are full of information about court reporting, captioning, and getting through court reporting school. Send email to: vmorgan@cerritos.edu
