Additionally, the center is offering Child Development Center t-shirts for sale in Cerritos College blue (adult sizes). These are offered to alumni families at a discounted rate of $6 per shirt. >>> The Cerritos College Foster & Kinship Care Education (FKCE) program holds classes for foster teens who are about to emancipate from the system. This program is called the Independent Living Program (ILP), and FKCE teaches them life skills to prepare them to live on their own (such as interviewing for a job, finding a place to live, opening bank accounts, etc). FKCE collects toiletries and makes care packs for each of the 90+ students per year that come through this program. These are the toiletries you get when you stay at hotels (mini shampoo/conditioners, soaps, lotions, etc). FKCE does this because many of the teens have to switch placements suddenly and don't have these items often with them. With the care packs, they have a supply to get them through the first few days of a new placement until they can get their own toiletries. It is also for when the teens emancipate from the system and need to move. The care packs provide them with necessary items for the first few days of their moving.

As many of us have these types of extras from trips we have taken, FKCE is asking for donations of these items so that it can make these care packs for the teens. To donate these helpful items, please drop them off at the Health Occupations division, or send them in interoffice mail to the FKCE program. For more information, please contact FKCE Director Patricia Robbins Smith at probbins@cerritos.edu or ext. 2578.

>>> Disabled Student Programs and Services places tables and/or chairs in classrooms to accommodate the needs of students with disabilities. DSPS also provides seating accommodations for sign language interpreters and real-time captionists. This furniture is clearly marked with the DSPS Symbol of Access (wheelchair) logo. If you find these tables and/or chairs in your classroom, please do not remove them because students who use these rooms at different times during the week need these items. If you have questions or concerns, please contact Isabel Aguilar in the Alice Collins Resource Center for Disabled Students (SBB-6) or call ext. 2336.

>>> The Electronic Marquee located on the corner of Studebaker and Alondra is back in operation and available to display announcements! To submit a request, please review the electronic marquee regulations regarding content and length of message and then use the online marquee request form. For additional questions, please call Monica Acuña in the Cerritos College Public Affairs Office at ext. 2285.
