Theatre Presents “Hamlet” and Stoppard’s “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead”

Katie Lehr, David Martinez, KJ Faldetta, and Mary Ann Boice performWHAT: The Cerritos College Theatre Department is currently presenting concurrent productions of Shakespeare’s “Hamlet” and Tom Stoppard’s “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead.” Both productions, which open October 20, will consist of the same cast, set, and costumes, but will featuredifferent directors.

The Shakespearean classic tragedy “Hamlet” tells the story of a young prince who is robbed of his throne and asked to revenge his father's murder. “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead,” is an existential comedy involving two minor characters in “Hamlet” and shows the play from their point of view.

John Zamora will direct “Hamlet,” and Kevin Hoggard will direct “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead.” Previously, Zamora has directed “A Piece Of My Heart” and “The Laramie Project,” while Hoggard has directed “The Diary of Anne Frank” and “The Man Who Came to Dinner.” Hoggard recently starred in “The Man of La Mancha.”

“Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead” performances:

Thursday, November 2, 8 p.m.

Saturday, November 4, 8 p.m.

Sunday, November 5, 2 p.m.

COST: Single Show Ticket Prices: General, $12; students and senior citizens, $10. A two-show pass will be available for $20 for general admission and $17 for students. Show tickets are available for all performance dates and may be purchased through the theatre box office.  Group rates are available.
