Amna Jara, Automotive Technology Department, Honored as Employee of the Month

Amna "A.J." Jara was honored with the Outstanding Classified Employee of the Month Award for September 2006 by the Cerritos College Board of Trustees during its regular board meeting on Wednesday night, October 18.

A.J. began her full-time classified employment with the district in November 2004 in the Automotive Technology Department as the department's program facilitator. As program facilitator, A.J. is sought out by students for guidance and direction into special automotive programs.

According to her colleagues, A.J. is an important asset to the automotive technology program. She works hard with outside companies to develop grants and contracts, and each year she organizes the Orange County Auto Show career booth.

A.J. strives to go above and beyond her duties as program facilitator. She is well known for the extra time she puts into her work--she often stays late or works on her days off just to assist students and faculty. A.J. is easily available for anyone to contact her for any kind of need.

A.J.'s hard work and achievements over the last two years has enabled the department to effectively broaden horizons and reach out and touch the local community. Cerritos College Board President John Moore and Board Vice President Tom Jackson commended A.J. for her commitment and dedication in her job.
