Film students receive post-production scholarships
Cerritos College film students Edgar Alvarado and Mark Martinez were awarded scholarships by Future Media Concepts.
Both received a full conference pass to the 2012 NAB (National Association of Broadcasters) & Post Production World Conference in April (a value of $895/person). The Post Production World Conference offers a complete educational experience for media professionals looking for the latest in production and post-production techniques and technology from top professionals. Sessions are taught by published authors, certified instructors, and industry experts who share best practices and the latest innovations.
"The Post Production World Conference hosted by FMC is the sessions only segment of the annual NAB Conference where professional content creators learn new technologies and skills from "shoot to post," said Film Professor Steve Hirohama.
"I feel honored to be given the award because it is a testament to all the hard work that I have put in the past couple of years at Cerritos," said Alvarado. "It is encouraging to know that the career that I have chosen is one that will lead me to great things. I plan to take full advantage of what has been given to me and make sure that I challenge myself even more to learn as much as possible."
Martinez agreed. "I put in countless hours of work and it feels good to be recognized for it. Knowledge is the greatest thing you can have. I am excited to attend the conference and gain a lot from it."
"(The NAB Conference) is the place where creativity originates, inspiration comes alive and dreams become reality." These world class sessions on filmmaking, new digital and 3D technologies, producer/director skills workshops, documentary and mobile app workshops will most definitely make an impression on both Edgar and Mark - the two most deserving students who have completed their film studies at Cerritos this past year," said Hirohama.
