AAWCC’s Inaugural 40 Under 40 Class Includes Cerritos College Staff

Raquel LizarragaRaquel Lizarraga, administrative clerk for Cerritos College's Technology division, was recently named a 40 Under 40 honoree by the American Association for Women in Community Colleges (AAWCC.)

Since becoming the Administrative Clerk III for the Technology Division in December 2014, Raquel has coordinated and implemented career pathways services and career technical education (CTE) programs and services for the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Technology Linked Learning (AMETLL) grant.

She has created 43 local articulation agreements with 16 high schools.  Due to the successful articulation agreements at Cerritos College, she is now collaborating with El Camino College, Pasadena City College, Harbor College, and Long Beach City College to create a new regional articulation agreement.

"I want to drive change and make a difference,” said Lizarraga. “With these articulation agreements now in place, over 1,000 high school students can earn Cerritos College credit in the 2015-2016 school year for their high school classes."

The American Association of Women in Community Colleges (AAWCC) "40 Under 40" will be an annual recognition of outstanding community college women under the age of 40 who are movers and shakers on their college campuses, making a difference. This year’s class features faculty, counselors, administrators, and staff members raising the bar for excellence as they serve their communities.
