2017 - Tuesday, February 15th

  • Reminder of requirements for advisory committees: two meetings per fiscal year, must provide a sign-in sheet, agenda and minutes to be turned in to the CTE office as soon as they occur, have a minimum of 3 industry representatives.

    - Failure to submit required documents will result in no funding for 1 year

  • The TOP Codes and Department chair list was verified

  • Dates and Deadlines for Perkins were discussed

    - Local Application 2017-2018 – April 7, 2017

    - IPII Applications 2017-2018 – March 31, 2017 (Awards announced by June 15, 2017)

    - Final Report 2016-2017 – May 5, 2017

    - Expenditures – April 15, 2017

  • Conference and travel guidelines for Perkins were discussed

    - 30-day minimum for out-of-state travel

    - All paperwork must be submitted within 30 days after meeting/conference

  • Announcement that CTE Program Reports were due February 21, 2017

  • Resources available for the Strong Workforce Program were discussed

  • The date for the 2017 Advisory Committee Members’ Recognition Breakfast was announced, April 13, 2017

2016 - Tuesday, September 20th

  • Reminder of requirements for advisory committees: two meetings per fiscal year, must provide a sign-in sheet, agenda and minutes to be turned in to the CTE office as soon as they occur, have a minimum of 3 industry representatives

  • Business Administration was used as an example of organized and detailed meeting minutes, with all the correct components

  • An updated list of division chairs was verified
  • Dates and deadlines for Perkins were discussed:

    - Local Application 2017-2018 – April 7, 2017

    - IPII Applications 2017-2018 – March 31, 2017 (Awards announced by June 15, 2017)

    - Final Report 2016-2017 – May 5, 2017

    - Expenditures – April 15, 2017

  • Conference and travel guidelines for Perkins were discussed, based on the handout

  • As of now, CTE Program Reports will be emailed out December 5, 2016 and are due February 24, 2017. Including CTE Program Reports as a component of Program Review Plus is in the works. The CTE office will keep the divisions up-to-date if there are any changes made to these dates.

  • CTE Program Roadmaps Booklet:

    - The CTE office compiled all the CTE Roadmaps into one booklet. This booklet will be updated as we run out, and will be provided to divisions on a consistent basis, funded through the CTE office.

    - The individual roadmaps are now the responsibility of each division and reprints will not be funded by the CTE office. If any updates need to be made, please work with you dean and graphic designer Kelly Kwan to make those changes.

    - The CTE office will check with Kelly to make sure that any updated roadmaps are included in each new print of the booklet.

  • Guest Speaker, Chris Hurd from Cazenovia High School in New York presented on Bridging the Gap, K-12 to Community College

  • The Strong Workforce Program was discussed. Dean of Technology, Nick Real and CTE Coordinator, Kathy Hogue are working with CTE Liaison Andrew Maz to get the program started.

    - Applications to receive funds under this grant will become available October 3, 2016

    - The SOC to TOP Crosswalk was discussed, and it’s importance under this grant

  • A CTE faculty representative for the Basic Skills Committee is needed. The committee meets the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month at 2pm

  • The date for the 2017 Advisory Committee Members’ Recognition Breakfast was announced, April 13, 2017

2016- Tuesday, February 23rd

  • Discussed “Doing What Matters” framework.
  • Upcoming Advisory Breakfast – April 14, 2016 at 7:30 a.m. in the Student Center
  • Addresses the requirement regarding Advisory Committee Meetings – two per fiscal year are required. A sign-in sheet, agenda and minutes must be submitted to the CTE office for our records. A minimum of 3 industry representatives must be members of the committee.
  • Student Success Scorecard Skills-Builders metric was addressed.

  • Discussed requirements for conference and travel: Out of state requires paperwork to be turned in two months prior, and in state travel one month prior.

2015 - Tuesday, September 29th

  • Discussed the need for pull sheets, all CTE programs should have them available for students. They should include program information from the catalog and a title banner is required. 
  • A presentation was given by Raquel Lizarraga discussing articulation agreements.  This is a way for high school student to get college credit for classes they are taking at their high school as well as encourage them to transition to Cerritos College
  • Reminded participants to inform the CTE office of any events they attend to recruit high school student, this can be included on the final report.
  • Informed faculty about TOP, SOC, and CIP. They need to verify that SOC codes are correct. Please have all revisions completed by the end of the Fall 2015 semester.
  • Reminded participants that 2 advisory committee meetings are needed per year.  There must be a sign-in sheet, agenda, and minutes for the meeting. These must be turned in to the CTE office as soon as they occur. Also, industry representatives need to be in attendance.
  • Discussed the Student Success Scorecard, which compares us to other community colleges in the region.
  • Reminded participants that all purchases for this fiscal year are to be made by April 15, 2016
  • Encouraged faculty to attend conferences related to their programs. Reminded them of the procedures for conference approval. Out-of-state travel should be submitted for approval at least 2 months in advance.
  • Reminded participants that CTE Program Reports are due to the CTE office by March 31, 2016.

2015 – Tuesday, March 10th

  • Reminded participants that 2 advisory committee meetings are needed by year. There must be a sign in sheet, agenda, and minutes for the meetings. Industry representatives need to attend.
  • Informed the committee that the IPII application would be available soon
  • Discussed the need for faculty participation in conferences. Preferred conferences are in state and are trade specific. General conferences such as “online learning” are unlikely to fit in the Perkins core indicator improvement. A statement of course/program improvement will be requested in the 2015/2016 year for conference attendees. Conferences also need to meet deadlines specified by the college.
  • Encouraged two faculty members to participate in CCCAOE for Fall and Spring
  • Reminded the committee about the CTE report and its deadline
  • Outlined Perkins program application requirements
  • Emphasized the importance of industry certifications
  • Demonstrated the relationship between SAM codes and Core Indicator data

 

2014 – Thursday, September 25th

  • Discussed the issues raised by the Chancellors office program monitor in the last application. Core indicators need to be addressed at each program level.
  • Informed the committee about reauthorization
  • Presented the program approval process at LAOCRC. Explained letter of intent versus application and the differences with the curriculum committee paperwork. Indicated when Lynn Shaw would be on campus to present the process.
  • Distinguished between in state and out of state travel. Discussed various requirements and deadlines
  • Presented the information related to the next advisory committee breakfast. Reminded the members about the need for industry representation and prompt reporting of agendas and minutes.
  • Informed the committee of the upcoming program review plus software and the incorporation of CTE reports in it.
  • Provided information about various processes and deadlines.

 

2014 – Tuesday, April 29th

  • Presented the elements of the local Perkins application and its deadlines
  • Reminded the committee about requisition deadlines in place on campus
  • Informed the committee of which programs were in process for CTE review
  • Presented the results of the previous year’s IPII
  • Announced a variety of deadlines and information items.
