Creative Writing Certificate

The English department offers a certificate in creative writing for students interested in honing their skills at composing for film or television, at waxing poetic and practicing verse style, or at penning the great American novel. To earn the certificate, the student must complete 12 units from the following:

1. Choose 6 units from the following:

English 240 Creative Writing (3 units; repeatable until Fall 2013)
English 241 Screenwriting (3 units; repeatable until Fall 2013)
Theater 241 Screenwriting (3 units)

2. Choose 6 units from the following:

English 227 Readings in Current Literature (3 units)
English 228 Shakespeare's Plays (3 units)
English 232 Readings in Poetry (3 units)
English 233 Readings in the Novel (3 units)
English 235 Readings in Drama (3 units)
