It is the mission of the 
Cerritos College English Department to . . .

teach students to communicate through clear and effective writing in order to facilitate their transfer to four-year accredited universities and to enhance their life experiences;

provide technical writing courses for students not transferring to four-year accredited universities;

implement new methods to teach writing, including computer-assisted instruction, distance learning, teleconferencing, on-line and Internet-based instruction, and contracted education;

and to assist students in comprehension and appreciation of literature.
