Portable Entertainment Technology Program

The Theatre Arts and Music Departments began offering this Entertainment Technology Occupational Program in 2009. This program was created to train entry-level stage technicians to work on portable entertainment events.  Students can complete the program in less than one year with skills enabling them to step directly into the entertainment job market. The program culminates with the "Concert Under The Stars" summer series. The students in the Th 225 - Portable Event Production class set up the stage, the truss, the audio equipment, and the lighting equipment for each concert.

Location: Falcon Square in the center of the Cerritos College Campus

Have dinner under the stars. Bring your picnic dinner, lawn chairs and blankets and enjoy a fun filled evening of music.

This course requires the student to set up and run live events using the skills acquired in the Portable Entertainment Technology classes. Students will work in the areas of staging, lighting, and audio on live entertainment events that are open to the public.

Th 223 - Portable Entertainment Technology - Lighting - Fall 2012

This class will cover the principles, procedures, and practices involved in the lighting of portable entertainment events.

Th 224 - Portable Entertainment Technology - Audio & Staging - Spring 2012 (In Progress)

This class will cover the procedures and practices involved in the set up of stages, truss and audio equipment for portable entertainment events.

Th 225 - Portable Event Production - First Summer Session 2012

This course requires the student to set up and run live events using the skills acquired in the Portable Entertainment Technology classes. Students will work in the areas of staging, lighting, and audio on live entertainment events that are open to the public.

MUS 135 Music Business 

This class provides an general overview of the music industry while also hands-on instruction in student-run concerts. These concerts provide the entertainment for the Summer Portable Event Production class (Th 225).
