Financial Aid Check Disbursement Information
All awards are based on full time enrollment. Enrollment is broken down as follows:
12 unit and above - full time (100% of the semester award)
9 - 11.5 units - three quarter time (75% of the semester award)
6 - 8.5 units - half time (50% of the semester award)
1/2 - 5 units - less than half time
- Payments are as follows:
- Students receive 50% of their award (s) per semester based on the number of units they are in at the time the funds are disbursed. The number of disbursements per semester varies depending on the type of grant. The number of disbursements during the Summer session may vary.
- Remedial Courses
- We cannot pay for classes if they are all remedial. Remedial includes: BCOM 46, Eng 20, 22, 32, MATH 20, 40, 42, READ 41T, 42, 43, 44, 46, PE courses, ESL courses except for ESL 100 and 200. You must be enrolled in at least one non-remedial course in order for us to disburse the Pell grant.

- Pell Grant:
- Two disbursements per semester for Fall and Spring semesters (depending on when your file is processed and the number of units you are in at the time of disbursement.) See Disbursement Schedule.
A Pell Bookvoucher to be used at Follett Bookstore on campus will be available the first week of classes for those students who applied early and are enrolled. A letter will be sent to eligible students notifying them how much bookvoucher they are eligible for. This advance bookvoucher will be taken out of your 1st Pell disbursement.
If you will not be utilizing the Follett Bookstore voucher, your first Pell grant check will be disbursed a month after the first day of classes. If you have special circumstances, please complete the Financial Aid Appeal form. Appeals must include an attendance report signed by an instructor and documentation on where you will be purchasing their books including the name of the books and the purchase price. (Both forms are available from website under forms and publications)
- SEOG- $400.00 for the year, $200.00 per semester
- Students must be enrolled in at least 6 payable units at the time of disbursement each semester to receive SEOG.

- Cal Grant:
- Once a semester; unless there is a change in units. Students must be enrolled in at least 6 payable units each semester to receive Cal Grant.

- Loans: Once the Financial Aid Office receives your loan check from your lender, the Financial Aid Office will verify your enrollment and mail your loan check to your home address. Students must be enrolled in at least 6 payable units each semester to receive a loan.
Cerritos College students MUST complete an Exit Loan Counseling session before we can release your second disbursement. Failure to complete the session will delay payment of your loan proceeds
Effective August 12, 2005: Loan checks will be mailed 30 days after the start of each term.
