Financial Aid Disbursement Information

All awards are based on full time enrollment.

12 units or more   - full time (100% of the semester award)
9 - 11.5 units        - three quarter time (75% of the semester award)
6 -  8.5 units         - half time (50% of the semester award)
1/2 - 5 units          - less than half time (25% of the semester award)
Payments are as follows:

Students receive 50% of their award (s) per semester based on the number of units they are in at the time the funds are disbursed.  The number of disbursements per semester varies depending on the type of grant.  The number of disbursements during the Summer session may vary.


Remedial Courses
We will not disburse financial aid if you are enrolled in all remedial.  Remedial includes: BCOM 46, Eng 20, 22, 32, MATH 20, 40, 42, READ 41T, 42, 43, 44, 46, PE courses, ESL courses except for ESL 100 and 200.  You must be enrolled in at least one non-remedial course in order for us to disburse your financial aid.
 
Pell Grant:
Effective Fall 2009: One disbursement per semester for Fall and Spring semesters (disbursement date depends on when your file is processed and the number of units you are in at the time of disbursement.) See Disbursement Schedule.
 
Students must be enrolled in at least 6 payable units at the time of disbursement each semester to receive SEOG.
 
Cal Grant:
Once a semester; unless there is a change in units.  Students must be enrolled in at least 6 payable units each semester to receive Cal Grant.
 
For example:
           12 units or more:     9 - 11.5 units    6 - 8.5 units:     1/2 unit to 5 units:
Cal B    $    776.00            $   581.00         $   388.00                none
Cal C    $    288.00            $   216.00         $   144.00                none
 
Loans: Once the Financial Aid Office receives your loan check from your lender, the Financial Aid Office will verify your enrollment and mail your loan check to your home address.  Students must be enrolled in at least 6 units each semester to receive a loan.

Cerritos College students MUST complete an Exit Loan Counseling session before we can release your second disbursement. Failure to complete the session will delay payment of your loan proceeds.

Loan checks are mailed 30 days after the start of each term.
