- Read the application and be aware of all the requirements.

- Keep extra official transcripts on hand if you plan on applying for several scholarships. Know the difference between official and unofficial transcripts.

- Give the people writing letters of recommendation a reasonable amount of time.

- Neatness counts! Use black ink and write as neatly as possible. Typewritten or computer printed is better.

- Use spelling and grammar check just to be sure.
|
- Answer all questions asked. Those that don't apply to you should be answered with "Not applicable".

- Read the entire question carefully and answer what is actually being asked.

- In writing your essay, be sure to address the subject requested by the endowing group if a specific topic has been named. Include in your narrative answers to all the criteria mentioned.

- Proofread your application for errors.
|
- Make a copy of the entire application for your records.
|
- Send hand written "Thank You" notes to anyone writing a letter of recommendation for you.
