Scholarship Tips

Read the application and be aware of all the requirements.
Keep extra official transcripts on hand if you plan on applying for several scholarships. Know the difference between official and unofficial transcripts.
Give the people writing letters of recommendation a reasonable amount of time.
Neatness counts! Use black ink and write as neatly as possible. Typewritten or computer printed is better.
Use spelling and grammar check just to be sure.
Answer all questions asked. Those that don't apply to you should be answered with "Not applicable".
Read the entire question carefully and answer what is actually being asked.
In writing your essay, be sure to address the subject requested by the endowing group if a specific topic has been named. Include in your narrative answers to all the criteria mentioned.
Proofread your application for errors.
Make a copy of the entire application for your records.
Send hand written "Thank You" notes to anyone writing a letter of recommendation for you.
