NORWALK, Calif. – May 27, 2008 – Two Cerritos College students were each awarded with $1,000 scholarships during the May 8 Cerritos College Foundation Board meeting.
Students Alejandra Cruz Rossil and Joshua Ickes were received The Chugh Firm Accounting Scholarship presented by Navneet Chugh. Chugh, an attorney-at-law and CPA, established the scholarship to support promising accounting students. Chugh is the managing partner of The Chugh Firm and a member of the Cerritos College Foundation Board of Directors.
As an accounting major, Rossil, of Lakewood, has earned a GPA of 3.5 and secured an internship at one of the world’s largest accounting firms. Rossil is a member of Phi Theta Kappa, the Business Club, and the Economics Club. She has plans to eventually transfer to USC where she will pursue both her bachelor’s and master’s degree in accounting.
Ickes has also excelled as an accounting major at Cerritos. He has consistently made the Dean’s List and maintains a GPA of 3.7. While attending Cerritos College in 2000, Ickes joined the Army and spent time in Europe and Kuwait before being honorably discharged in 2005. He immediately re-enrolled at Cerritos and is now preparing to transfer to Cal State Fullerton. Upon graduation from Fullerton, his goal is to pass the CPA exam and join one of the big four accounting firms.
