NORWALK, Calif. – May 28, 2009 – The Cerritos College Foundation presented the Esther Espinoza Memorial Teacher TRAC Scholarship to Fabiola Espinoza* during the Teacher TRAC graduation ceremony on May 14.

Fabiola Espinoza, of Artesia, received the Esther Espinoza Memorial Teacher TRAC Scholarship, presented by Steve Richardson, executive director of the Cerritos College Foundation.

In 2004, the Honorable Peter Espinoza and his siblings, all of whom graduated from Cerritos College, founded the scholarship in memory of their late mother, Esther Espinoza, a teacher in the Norwalk-La Mirada School District for 35 years.

The Honorable Peter Espinoza currently serves as Supervising Judge for the Los Angeles Superior Court and as a board member for the Cerritos College Foundation.

The recipient Fabiola Espinoza has a passion for teaching science.  She wants to experience the great satisfaction of knowing that one can make a difference in this world through teaching.  She has worked three semesters with a mentor teacher at John Glenn High School and is ahead of the curve having successfully taught many lessons in his biology classes.  She is transferring to California State University, Long Beach through the Teacher TRAC program.

“As a teacher, Fabiola will play the key role in preparing our youth for the future,” said Richardson. “We wish her the best in her study and look forward to her role as an educator.”

*No family relationships between Fabiola and Esther/Peter Espinoza.
