  • PADRES Contra El Cáncer Internship Program - If you are interested in learning about the day-to day functions of a non-profit organization, in a fast paced environment, then PADRES is the place for you! PADRES offers year round mentorship experiences in the following areas of study: Psychology, Social Work, Marketing, Communications, Fund Development, and Nonprofit/Organizational Management. Depending on the area of study, interns can be assigned to work out of the PADRES Offices in Toluca Lake, Children's Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) or UCLA's Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center (JCCC).   • If you are interested in donating to a worthy cause, or you are looking for a place to donate all of your unwanted treasures, or you just love to browse the amazing finds at a good garage sale, then the From Maddi's Closet garage sale fundraiser just might be for you! From Maddi's Closet is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit public charity for the benefit of children with cancer at Children's Hospital Los Angeles and beyond. The organization strives to bring love, hope, and joy into the patients' lives, as well as the lives of their families, through special projects which include providing funds for hospitals to help meet the special needs of the children whose needs are not being met by other assistance programs, raising public awareness of pediatric cancer and the needs of the children and the families that deal with it, and supporting pediatric cancer research.   • Cerritos College Kinesiology Club -"2nd Annual Kidney Awareness Walk/Run & Old Workout Shoes Collection Drive": Old workout shoes will be collected for recycling. We will be collecting running shoes, tennis shoes, and court shoes. We need your help to support the continuing research and education of kidney disease, disease prevention and healthy kidney functions. Your donation will be greatly appreciated. All donations will be awarded to the National Kidney Foundation. The event will take place on Thursday May 2, 2013, at Cerritos College in Falcon Square. Check-in for the walk/run will be held from 10:00-10:55 am. The shoe and donation collections will take place from 9:30-11:00am. The walk/run will start at 11:05 am.
