Prof. Miodrag "Mickey" Micic is a Department Chairman and an Instructor of engineering technology at Cerritos College. His research interests includes medical devices and life science instrumentation and methods development, microelectromechanical systems, rapid prototyping and colloid and surface chemistry. He is an author or co-author of 64 publications most of them in leading scientific journals, with a sum of 1,082 citations as of September 2013. Dr. Micic was an invited contributor to the reference work "Wiley's Encyclopedia of Biomedical Devices and Instrumentation" and he was a guest editor of Elsevier's Colloids and Surfaces B: Biointerfaces journal, special issue on supramolecular chemistry at interfaces. Dr. Miodrag Micic holds Ph.D. and M.S. in chemistry from University of Miami, Coral Gables, FL; M.T.M. from Washington State University, WA; and Sc.D., and M.Sc. in physical chemistry, B.Sc./ B.Ed. in physics and fundamentals of engineering from University of Belgrade, and B.Eng. from Polytechnic Academy of New Belgrade, Serbia. Dr. Micic was a Vice-President, Research and Development at MP Biomedicals LLC in Irvine, California, and he hold a position of an Adjunct Project Scientist at BioMEMS Lab, Dept of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, University of California-Irvine, and is acting as a consultant or member of the board of several start up medical device companies. Since 2011, he have a honorary appointment as a Visiting Professor at Faculty of Applied Ecology, Singidunum University, Belgrade, Serbia. His hobbies are sport aviation, scuba diving, photography, wildlife preservation and astronomy.
