The Machine Tool Technology department at Cerritos College offers four certificates of achievement: CNC Programmer, CNC Operator, Machinist and Tool and Die Maker as well as one Associate of Arts Degree in Machine Tool Technology. Those certificates are highly sought after as they are the key to a successful career in many industries.

The department has 11 full size CNC machines (Haas and Fadal) allowing for ample student-machine interaction. Students learn how to understand blueprint information specific to machining, calculate the appropriate speeds and feeds, create their toolpaths using either MasterCam or Virtual Gibbs software , and setup their parts on the machines. Once the parts are machined, students are required to produce inspection reports using Verisurf computer assisted inspection software. Students also learn the basics of robot programming for CNC machines.
