Cerritos College
To register for the Machine Tool Technology classes, you need to follow the following steps:
STEP 1. Depending on your current status:
1.a. If you are a new student (attending Cerritos College for the first time or if you attended another college), you need to fill out an application. Pay close attention to question 20 on your application. If your interest is in taking Machine Tool Technology classes only in order to advance in your career, answer "Advance in current job/career" on question 20 "What is your immediate educational goal?".
NOTE: Answering on question 20 that you want to obtain an AA degree or a Certificate is a perfectly valid answer but will put you in mandatory testing in Math, Reading, and English as well as mandatory orientation. Those tests will have to be completed at Cerritos College and by appointment PRIOR to registration. Not completing those steps will result in a HOLD placed on your records and will not allow you to register.
1.b. If you are a returning student (you attended Cerritos College in the past but did not take any class this current semester), believe it or not, you need to re-apply to re-initialize your account. Since you already have a student ID number, you can indicate that in your new application
1.c. If you are a student currently, you do not need to re-apply
You can find the application online, it is a link at www.cerritos.edu OR you can come in person at the college student service center and fill out the paper application on campus. It is a good idea to indicate "Machine Tool Technology" as your major on the application on question 14.
STEP 2. You will then be accepted (or re-accepted) at Cerritos College within 48 hours. Make sure you put a current email address on the application to be notified of your acceptance. Dont worry, everyone gets automatically accepted once they are 18 years of age, even if you do not have a High School Diploma. That will give you a student identification number. Once you have that student identification number, you will be able to login to "MyCerritos". Your password is your birthdate in mmddyy format. Once again, that link is provided at www.cerritos.edu
"MyCerritos" will allow you to find out what is your registration apointment time (Note that if you are checking this a few months ahead, that info may not be available. Students register about 6 weeks ahead of the new semester and get their appointment a few weeks before that)
STEP 3. Complete mandatory student orientation and counseling online. This is new starting January 2012. If you do not do it, you will not be able to register... the classes will be full and you will spend another semester not being able to take any classes! The computer system will check automatically if you did the mandatory student orientation and counselling and not let you register for any classes if you did not do it. Do I need to repeat this a third time?
STEP 4. Find the classes you want to take in the Machine Tool Technology department. You can check that on the paper schedule of classes available on campus but the best is to check the online version as it is always up to date! You can do that by clicking on "SchedulePlus" on the main webpage at www.cerritos.edu
Write down the ticket numbers of the classes you are interested in.
STEP 5. "Add" the classes by typing in the ticket numbers of the classes you are interested in and fit your schedule. This can be done on "MyCerritos" after you log in with your student ID number and password.
STEP 6. PAY for the classes within 5 days of enrollment. You can do that online when you register with a credit card or you can come and pay on campus. If you do not pay for the classes, you will be automatically dropped for non-payment of fees and someone else may take your spot in the class! Here again, you would have to wait for the next semester to be able to register!
