Fang-Fang Shi Inouye has established herself as an up and coming pianist in Southern California. Born in Beijing, China, Ms. Shi began studying piano with her mother at the age of four. She immigrated to the U.S. in 1991 and subsequently received Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in Piano Performance from the University of Southern California.

Ms. Shi studied under many auspices including Ming-Qiang Li (Pianist and Chairman at the ShangHai Conservatory of Music in China), Guang-Ren Zhaou (Pianist and Chairman at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, China; Van Cliburn International Piano Competition adjudicator), Teng Hong, Dr. Joseph Mathrews (Professor at Champman University, CA), Dr. Steven Hall, and Norman Krieger (Progessor at USC Thornton School of Music, CA, USA).

Ms. Shi was the recipient of the Mabel Wilson Richards Scholarship from the USC Thornton School of Music, the Liberace Scholarship Award from Chapman University, the Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Scholarship, and the B. Douglas Sawtelle Scholarship Award. She has performed chamber recitals that were broadcasted on KUSC radio station. In 2000, Ms. Shi and her mother won the grand prize at the MTAC Ensemble Festival. Ms. Shi is also a winner at the 2006 Los Angeles International Liszt Competition.

Ms. Shi has taught piano classes at California State University of Dominguez Hills. Currently Ms. Shi teaches piano in the Applied Music Program at Cerritos College and appears regularly at the faculty recitals. Ms. Shi also served as both President and First Vice-President at the Lakewood-Cerritos Branch of the Music Teacher’s Association of California. She has been invited to serve as an adjudicator at the Southwestern Youth Music Festival, Southern California Junior Bach Festival, Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity, the Winter Festivals at various MTAC Branches, and the Concerto Competition at Biola University.

Ms. Shi maintains a private piano studio that has produced numerous first place winners and scholarship recipients. These competitions include: SYMF Young Pianist Catagory, Long Beach Mozart Festival, MTAC State Solo/Concerto Competition, Southern California Junior Bach Festival, Cypress College Festival, and Fullerton College Ensemble Festival.

In 2008, Ms. Shi has been admitted to the USC Flora L. Thornton School of Music with a scholarship to continue her graduate study of Doctorate of Music Art Degree.
