The faculty in the Psychology Department at Cerritos College are dedicated to providing the highest quality instruction in areas such as abnormal psychology, biological psychology, developmental psychology, social psychology, research methods and statistics, among others.  Many of our courses transfer to CSU and UC systems and/or satisfy general education (GE) requirements (consult the schedule of classes for details on transfer/GE requirements).  Students majoring in psychology at Cerritos College also acquire the skills necessary to successfully complete a bachelor's degree in psychology at a four-year college or university.  Psychology majors at Cerritos College are eligible for certain scholarships and awards not available to non-declared majors.  Furthermore, many former Cerritos College psychology majors go on to obtain advanced degrees in psychology from other institutions.  The department also has opportunities for students to conduct directed studies/research with faculty, participate in the Psychology Club and join Psi Beta, the national Honors Society in Psychology for two-year colleges.

--The annual convention of the Western Psychological Association (WPA) was a huge success for Cerritos College and many of our Psychology faculty and students presented original research and attended the convention.  Congratulations to everyone!
