Norwalk, CA – February 25, 2008 - Cerritos College will host “The Commandant’s Own” Drum & Bugle Corps, Silent Drill Platoon and Color Guard performance in the Cerritos College Falcon Stadium on Thursday, March 6.
This presentation is part of the Marine Corps Battle Color Ceremony that includes the Commandant’s Own the United States Marine Drum and Bugle Corps Silent Drill Platoon and Color Guard from historic Marine Barracks, Washington, D.C.
The Drum & Bugle Corps will open this year’s program with an original work composed by the Director of “The Commandant’s Own” Chief Warrant Officer-4 Brian Dix. Honoring those who served at the ‘Oldest Post of the Corps we are proud to debut 1801. A musical journey through a penguin’s life is showcased with a rhythmic and visual percussion feature, The Story of Mumble Happy Feet. Based on a theme by Ernesto Lecuona and made popular by the Stan Kenton Band, we close the first half of the program with the drum corps classic Malagueña.

The brilliance of Dmitri Shostakovich’s Finale, Allegro Non Troppo, to his Fifth Symphony opens the second half of our program. A medley from the Tony Award winning Broadway Show Jersey Boys, will feature several popular songs from ‘Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons’. As a musical calling card for our nation, John Philip Sousa's The Stars and Stripes Forever will close our 2008 presentation of “Music in Motion”.
The event is FREE and open to the public. Doors will open at 5:00 p.m. and the event will start at 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 6.
