NORWALK, Calif. – June 2, 2008 – The Cerritos College Department of Theatre is pleased to present The Fantastic Five!!!, the annual Summer One-Act Plays. This year’s show will consist of five individual one-act plays written, directed, designed and acted by students.
According to the Cerritos College Performing Arts Promotion Specialist Renée Bloch, it is the perfect opportunity for novice actors to try their hand at theatre. Likewise, intermediate and advanced students of the various theatre arts get opportunity to write, direct and design their very own show.
The program is coordinated by Forrest Hartl, adjunct theatre faculty and Georgia Well, chair of the Theatre Department.
“The Summer One-Acts is a great tradition at Cerritos College,” says Hartl. “Students are responsible for many aspects of production and gain valuable experience during the process. Many students discover a talent for directing and writing, but many also enjoy design, technical production, and of course, acting.”
“The diversity of voices, characters, and stories on display this summer will be a highlight for all who come to see the plays. There is a nice blend of both drama and comedy for audiences to enjoy.”
The titles of the five plays are: Freely Given, Apples n' Oranges, Modern Art, Brotherhood of War, and Pro. The show will kick off on Friday, June 20 at 8 p.m. at Cerritos College Burnight Studio Theatre. Click here for the details.
