WHAT: The Cerritos College Art Gallery is pleased to announce Architectonic Museography and Equivalents #2: an installation by Francesco X Sequeiros of a selection of prints from El Nopal Press. El Nopal Press is an independent fine art press run by Francesco X Siqueiros, artist and master printer. The collection of El Nopal Press includes such noteworthy artists as John Baldessari, Diane Gamboa, Gronk, and Rubén Ortiz Torres to name only a few. This exhibition curated by Siqueiros, focuses on relationships between the gallery space and works of art and the relationship between the works themselves. Siqueiros proposes an alternative exhibition presentation by exploring the connection between works of art, the design and structure of exhibition space and equivalent relationships between the works of art in regards their weight (literally and figuratively), influence, validity and effect.
In addition, Ofelia Esparza will create a traditional Day of the Dead altar in celebration of this annual commemoration of the dead. The altar will be created in the gallery during the last week of October with an official celebration on Monday, November 3rd.
