NORWALK, Calif. - October 20, 2008 -Cerritos College officials, Board of Trustees and community members attended a groundbreaking for the new Aquatic Center on Wednesday, October 15. Dignitaries in attendance included Former President/Superintendent Dr. Wilford Michael and wife, Jean; Jim Edwards, Mayor of Cerritos; Celia Spitzer, ABC Unified School District Board Member; Sue Arthur, President of Norwalk Chamber of Commerce; and Vivian Hansen, Executive Director of Norwalk Chamber of Commerce. The new $7 million Aquatic Center will be funded by the G.O. bond and will consist of a 115-by-75-foot competition pool, a 45-by-75-foot adaptive pool and a 3,400 square feet pool house building.
Cerritos College serves as a comprehensive community college for southeastern Los Angeles County. Communities within the college’s district include Artesia, Bellflower, Cerritos, Downey, Hawaiian Gardens, La Mirada, Norwalk, and portions of Bell Gardens, Lakewood, Long Beach, Santa Fe Springs and South Gate.
