Cerritos College to Host Triathlon Event on June 19
“iTri” Event Welcomes Participants of All Abilities and Volunteers

WHAT: The Cerritos College Health, Physical Education & Athletics Division is hosting an onsite triathlon, iTrI, on Friday, June 19, 2009. The race begins at 7:00 a.m.
The event will take place on the beautiful Cerritos College campus; starting with a two-mile run, transitioning to a seven-mile bike ride, and finishing with a 400-meter swim. The course is somewhat technical, yet welcoming to first-timers.
The event is sanctioned through USA Triathlon and it is open to everyone. The field limit is 300 participants. The women's and men's locker rooms and shower facilities will be available for participants and volunteers.
The proceeds will be donated to the Cerritos College Triathlon Club and the Challenged Athletes Foundation (www.challengedathletes.org), a non-profit organization that provides prosthetics and equipment (such as prosthetic legs and hand cycles) to athletes with special needs. Registration closes at 11:59 pm on June 17.
“The Cerritos College Triathlon Club members and students have been working very hard to make this event happen,” said Ni Bueno, chair of the Health Education Department, athletic coordinator and advisor for the Triathlon Club at Cerritos College. “They are developing leadership skills and purpose through this event planning process.”
