pancake fundraiser attendeesNORWALK, Calif. – June 21, 2010 - Fueled by pancakes and coffee, the fundraiser put on by co-workers and friends of Lizeth Pimentel on Saturday, June 12th, was a great success.

Pimentel, Cerritos College employee and student, was in a horrific car accident on March 11.

Pimentel, the mother of a four-year-old daughter remains hospitalized.

Nearly 700 breakfasts were served at the event and over 700 presale tickets for the event were sold.  Approximately 60 volunteers, comprised of college personnel  and concerned parties, lent helping hands including members of the Kiwanis Club of La Mirada who served as the cooks for the event.

At the end of the morning, 53 prizes were raffled. The proceeds from the tickets sold for all prizes went towards raising additional funds for Pimentel. Drawing items were provided by local merchants, people on campus, friends and community members.

“The event was nothing short of amazing with an overwhelming turnout,” said Tom Jackson, Cerritos College Board of Trustees vice president.

Along with the Adult Education Office, staff worked with the Jackson’s in planning, coordinating, and presenting ideas to ensure a successful event. Through their efforts, the staff provided not only monetary support but demonstrated how much Lizeth is loved by her Adult Education family.

The large door prize was a Compaq desktop computer donated by GST, Inc.
