Los Angeles (PRWEB) January 20, 2011
Cerritos College and Pearson, the world's leading learning company, today announced a customized textbook program for the college's humanities and social sciences division, which is projected to save students an average of 40 percent over standard textbooks. The Cerritos College-Pearson partnership is the first of its kind for a community college in California.

The new custom textbook program is providing students and faculty with course materials that are tailor-made for their specific classes. In addition, students and faculty will have access to Pearson's MyLabs online homework, tutorial and assessment programs, which are being incorporated into the college's current learning platform--making Cerritos the first to integrate Pearson MyLabs into an open source solution.

Cerritos College faculty participated in the decision-making process to choose Pearson for the new program, with many opting into the program because of the benefits that customized books and the MyLabs provide to both students and faculty.

"Cerritos College is dedicated to providing our students and faculty with the most cost-efficient and comprehensive learning tools available," said Bryan Reece, Dean of Academic Success and Institutional Effectiveness at Cerritos College. "We partnered with Pearson on this unique program for several reasons: they offer the most sophisticated technology in regards to textbooks in the industry; they will seamlessly integrate with our learning management system; and they provide unparalleled service and support."

"We are committed to providing innovative learning solutions capable of growing alongside our customers' unique needs and goals," said Don Kilburn, CEO of Pearson Learning Solutions. "The addition of customized course materials and the MyLabs are providing Cerritos College's students and instructors with the learning tools they need to make each course a success."
