NORWALK, Calif. -- May 24, 2011 -- Team Cerritos once again took home top prize at the California Dental Hygienists' Association meeting in Anaheim, May 13.
Every year the dental hygiene students compete in an annual statewide table clinic competition. There were a total of 56 students from nine different schools competing. The table clinic competition is a table top presentation addressing a topic in dental hygiene. The students are judged on the quality of the board, the quality of the presentation and the topic.
This year Team Cerritos won First Place in the Original Research Category: The Big Cover Up by Jackie Counterman and Joni Fisher.
"We are exceedingly proud of the hard work and team spirit that these students displayed in representing the Cerritos College dental hygiene program", said Adelle Krayer, director of the Cerritos College Dental Hygiene program.
In June, these prize winning students will be taking their presentations to the American Dental Hygienists' Association national competition in Nashville, Tennessee. Additionally, two other stellar teams from the Cerritos College dental hygiene team will be joining them. Together, they hope to bring home the top prizes.
