Data Request Guidelines

Guidelines for Submitting Data Request

The Office of Research and Planning maintains historical and institutional data.  The type of data maintained and available resources impacts the ability of the office to complete ad hoc requests.  In general, student demographic and performance data are maintained.  Please keep the following in mind when submitting requests:

  1. The Research Office does not maintain current semester data. The Research Office typically receives data for the current semester six to eight weeks after the end of the term;
  2. In general, the research office maintains historical student demographic and performance data beginning with Fall 2007.  The historical data can be used to identify general historical patterns;
  3. The research office does not maintain personal student records, including student name, address, and telephone number.  The research office cannot generate mailing lists, mailing labels, postcards, or performs data extracts;
  4. Given the limited staff and resources of the research office, data requests should be made four to six weeks in advance depending on the nature of the request;
  5. Data requests must be made in writing.

In general, the request process depends on the currently calendared projects in the Office of Research and Planning and the specific circumstances of the request.
