
Tutoring
The Success Center offers two types of general walk-in tutoring. The first is for math problems or math homework. Ther other is for papers and writing assignments. Individualized tutoring typically lasts 5 - 15 minutes depending on the complexity of the issue. Students receive tutoring on a first-come, first-served basis. This services is provided by faculty and tutors and is available at all hours of operation.
The Success Center also offers tutoring to students in various subjects on campus in a small group setting. Students needing tutoring in subjects other than math and writing should visit the Math Success Center in LC 137 and fill out a request for tutoring. Tutors will be scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis, as budget allows.
Workshops
The Success Center offers a variety of unique workshops taught by faculty and offered several times throughout asemester. Workshops are 50 minutes in length and students can attend as many workshops as they'd like.
DLAs
Designed in close collaborationwi th faculty in the content areas, Directed Learning Activities (DLAs) are meant to assist student in developing the essential reading, writing, study or math skills and/or strategies needed to succeed in their courses. Once a student completes a DLA, they will work with a faculty member or a tutor to ensure that that the concepts covered in the DLA are releveant to the students current coursework.
Technology & Computers
The Success Center houses an open computer lab available to currently enrolled students. Computers are available for coursework, research and general computer use. Self-service printing is available to students for a small fee. The computer lab is located in LC 166.
Both the Language Arts and Math Success Centers have computers available specifically for courswork related to Success Center offerings. MyMath Lab is supported in the Math Success Center.
Technology Training
The Success Center offers a variety of introduction trainings in various programs useful to student in their courses. Students may attend a brief training session of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Powerpoint, Using Web-based Email and Basic Internet Usage. All Technology Training sessions are held in the Math Success Center in LC 137.
