Answer: If your CD-ROM does not start automatically upon insertion, or if it causes your computer to stop responding, you will need to start the program manually. Depending on your computer, course, and CD-ROM version the exact process may differ.
If you are using a PC:
1. Insert your CD into the computer while holding down the shift key.
2. Wait about 20 seconds or until the drive light stops blinking.
3. Next open My Computer and locate the CD-ROM drive with your course material.
4. Right-click this drive and select Open.
5. Now look for a file named; start.exe, intro.exe, index.htm, index.html, main.htm or main.html. The .exe files are for interactive animations, the .htm and .html files are web pages. Note that these files may be in a subfolder on the CD.
7. Double click on the file and it should launch in the appropriate application.
If you are using a Macintosh OS9/OSX:
1. Insert your CD into the computer.
2. Double-Click the CD icon that appears on the desktop after a few seconds.
3. Now look for a file named; start_mac, intro_mac, index.htm, index.html, main.htm or main.html. The start_mac, intro_mac files are for interactive animations, the .htm and .html files are web pages. Note that these files may be in a subfolder on the CD.
4. Double click on the file and it should launch in the appropriate application.
