Admission Requirements

High School Students
  • 3.0 cumulative GPA (unweighted)
  • Consistent academic record
  • Placement in English 100 or higher
  • Placement in Math 80 or higher
College Students
  • 3.0 cumulative GPA (IGETC courses)
  • Consistent academic record
  • Placement in English 100 or higher
  • Placement in Math 80 or higher
  • Complete 12+ IGETC units

Additional requirements/concerns for new SHP applicants.

1. Advanced Placement Credits: Too many AP credits will make it difficult to complete the SHP; hence, an applicant may be denied admission tothe SHP.

2. College Credits: Too many college credits will make it difficult to complete the SHP; hence, an applicant may be denied admission to the SHP.

3. Honors Writing Requirement: New high school applicants (beginning Spring 2012) and new college applicants (beginning May 2012) are required to successfully complete the honors section of English 100 or English 103 with a "B" or better.
