Dear Prospective Student,
Thank you for your interest in the Cerritos College SLPA Program! Below lists the recommended steps in order to ensure you make informed decisions about your involvement in the program and that you are making adequate progress towards program completion.
**Please note that the SLPA program is an open enrollment for students, no application process is in place at this time. Courses are available Fall and Spring semesters; no online or summer classes are available.
1. If you are a current Cerritos student or prospective student, contact the Counseling Department (562)860-2451 x2231 and make an appointment with a Health Occupations counselor at the following number: http://cms.cerritos.edu/counseling/appointments.html
**You may use the Online Counseling option to obtain questions to your answers. The Online Counseling link is also located on the home page , left hand side click Counseling. Once on the counseling page click Online Counseling. Students will be asked to fill out an intake form and then ask their question; be sure to mention that you are interested in having a Health Occupations Counselor answer your questions. A counselor typically responds to you within 36 hours.
2. If you are not already enrolled at Cerritos College, the first step is to obtain a student I.D. number. To apply online for a student number, you need to:
3. Make sure all transcripts (if you are transferring from another college) have been transferred to Cerritos. If you think you can substitute a previously taken course for one in our program or one of the other required courses you will need to have the appropriate department chair determine whether the course is equivalent to what is required at Cerritos College.
4. Begin the courses according to the recommended sequence; as you continue with the program, be sure to check in at least once a year with the SLPA Department Chair to ensure that you are following the proper progression of courses.
Thank you again for your interest in the Cerritos College SLPA Program!
