Sign Language Courses Meet the CSU and UC Foreign Language requirement
Sign Language 101
This beginning course emphasizes expressive signs, receptive signs and finger spelling. An appreciation of cultural diversity is developed through the study of the differences and similarities between deaf and hearing cultures.

Sign Language 102
This course is a continuation of the study of the basic principles of American Sign Language with an emphasis on conceptual accuracy. A deeper appreciation of deaf culture is developed by studying the deaf community, encouraging participation in deaf community events, and understanding various communication technology used by deaf people.

Sign Language 201
This course provides a review and in-depth study of the grammatical concepts of American Sign Language. It will further develop the appreciation of cultural diversity particularly in the deaf community. The class is conducted primarily in American Sign Language.
