The Educational Code requires that Faculty serve a minimum of 175 days and allows for one to fifteen of those days for the development of staff and the revitalization of institutions. Cerritos College has set aside 5 days during the first week of January for Staff Development Flexible Time. Since these days are duty days, FACULTY HAVE AN OBLIGATION TO ATTEND the designated Flex Days or to design and complete an individual staff development project.

• Full-time Faculty are to complete their Staff Development Activities for Faculty Agreement form indicating the activities they intend to do during the school year. A complete form will have a minimum of 25 hours  and be turned into their division office by October 1. Please refer to the Directions for completing Proposed Staff Development Activities for Faculty Agreement Form.

• Attendance at the General Faculty and Faculty Senate Meetings earns 2 hours of flex credit each if documented on your Flex Agreement.

• If you choose to do an Individual Project, your division dean must approve your proposal by October 1. Please refer to the Criteria and Guidelines for an Independent Staff Development Project.

• If you choose to do a Departmental Staff Development Project, your division dean must approve the proposal by October 1. Please refer to the Criteria and Guidelines for a Departmental Staff Development Project.

• The awarding of flex credit is at the discretion of your division dean.

• May 2, Agreements are due to division office indicating what activities were actually completed. You can obtain the original form from your division secretary to augment, sign and resubmit.
