How a .wmv file works

The link above points to a file that contains this text. You may copy and paste this text into a new text file and name it with a .wvx or asx extension as a starting point for your own file.  This example also applies to audio files.

 
The first part of the link points to a file residing on a server and in this case it is a streaming media file residing in the streaming media root of the web server.

The second part of the link references the text transcript file residing in the browseable part of a web server.  Sami is short for Microsoft Synchronized Accessible Media Interchange.

The file contains time codes in milliseconds that trigger captions as the file plays.  You may copy and paste the text below and save into a new text document as a .smi file to begin your own SAMI file.
