Cliff began as a student at Cerritos College in 1999 and was soon hired as Instructional Aide. Over the past several years he developed a keen interest in the “Traditional American Furniture” produced in the 17th and 18th century.  He has studied with several masters of the period and learned to reproduce Windsor chairs, Pencil Post beds, Federal Carved bedposts, blanket chests, Chippendale chairs and the Newport Ogee-Skirt tea table to name just some the pieces he has made using traditional hand tools and historical methods.

Cliff feels that teaching these methods will give students a better understanding and appreciation for the advancements achieved in modern woodworking technology.

Cliff developed the curriculum for his popular  “Windsor Chair” class. He employs similar methods to those used in the 17th century by utilizing the following tools: gutter adze, scorp, compass plane, travisher, draw knives and spoke shaves. Along with WMT 235 Windsor Chair, Cliff teaches WMT 108 Carving and WMT 237 Traditional Furniture.
